No. 17 Wildcats Rally Past No. 25 SFA + Photos

Abilene, TEXAS — Stephen F. Austin dominated the first quarter and first half of the second quarter, but Abilene Christian caught fire and scored 21 points in the final 6:44 of the first half to take a 21-14 lead and end up on top 28-20.

Stone Earle ran in from a yard out to pull ACU within 14-7, then the Wildcat defense took over. Kortlin Rausaw crushed Lumberjack quarterback Sam Vidlak in the end zone, knocking the ball loose and Kaghen Roach recovered for a touchdown.

The Wildcats sacked Vidlak and recovered another fumble on the next SFA drive, and Jordon Vaughn scored six plays later to give ACU a 21-14 lead at the half. Vaughn ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

Vaughn scored again in the third to put ACU up 28-14, and, despite a punt return for a touchdown by the Jacks in the final minute of the game, the Wildcats held on to win.

Next up, the Wildcats will travel to TCU to take on the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth on Saturday.
