UIL Realignment for 2026 and 2027 Seasons

Initial thoughts/observations:

-Abilene High stays in a West Texas district, there were rumors of them getting shipped East, but they remain in a district they've had plenty of success in. Frenship drops from 5A with the addition of Frenship Memorial to make an eight-team district.

-Cooper and Wylie play almost the exact same teams in district this go-round. Coronado replacing Plainview is the only change.

-Stephenville will be in Region III this time around and will be joined by Burnet, Lampasas, and Marble Falls from their district the previous two seasons.

-No surprise really that Snyder stays with Fort Stockton, Monahans, Pecos, and Seminole. Big Spring is a new addition, down from 4A DI.

-Browwood is in Region IV! The Lions will be headed to the Waco area quite a bit over the next couple seasons.

-The predictions were way off in 3A, as Clyde, Jim Ned, and Sweetwater will head to the west to join Kermit, Lamesa, and Odessa Compass.

-Early and Wall will be paired together as new 3A DI programs this time, joining Ingram Moore, Llano, and TCLA San Angelo in District 3.

-Coahoma will have some longer road trips as they're in district with the likes of Anthony (nearly New Mexico) and Alpine in 3-3A Division II.

-Breckenridge and Merkel will head to the Wichita Falls area quite a bit as they join up with Henrietta, Holliday, Jacksboro, and City View.

-Comanche is back in 3A DII as part of an eight-team district with Clifton, Dublin, Eastland, Hamilton, Millsap, Rio Vista, and Tolar.

-They really split things up in 2A Division I. Ballinger, De Leon, and Bangs were all in the same district last realignement and now are in three different districts.

-Ballinger and Colorado City join the western based District 4 with Christoval, Forsan, Ozona, Reagan County and Sonora.

-Anson, Hawley, and Cisco head to Region II this time with TLCA Abilene, De Leon, and Hico. Olney is not in the district after playing with this core group the last four seasons.

-Bangs and Coleman head to what looks like a VERY tough District 7. Brady is down from 3A DII as well to join powerful Mason, along with San Saba and Johnson City.

-No change for Haskell and Munday as they'll face the same teams in district for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

-Roscoe moves to a more Lubbock area district and is no longer in with Albany, Hamlin, Cross Plains, etc.

-Goldthwaite escapes an all-central Texas district and will be headed north frequently in what should be a STRONG district. Albany, Stamford, Hamlin, Goldthwaite, and Cross Plains were all playoff teams a year ago.

-They broke up the long-running power district that featured Ira, Hermleigh, Westbrook, Roby, Rotan, and Highland.

-Hermleigh, Roby, and Rotan join Spur and the up from 1A DII Jayton and Aspermont.

-Ira and Westbrook go with Borden County, Klondike, Sands, and O'Donnell

-Highland heads more southeast, joining Robert Lee, Santa Anna, Bronte, Paint Rock, and Baird. The Bears go from Region IV to Region II this time, and Santa Anna will change things up and NOT be in district with May and Jonesboro.

-Gordon, Gorman, Lingleville, and Ranger get a tough addition as May joins the district and they move from Region IV to Region II.

-Many of the 1A DII districts are relatively the same. Panther Creek moves back to a district with Blackwell, Trent, Olfen, and Loraine.

-Benjamin went north last go-round, but will join Knox County rival Knox City along with Lueders-Avoca, Paint Creek, and Rule this realignment.

-Throckmorton and Woodson stay together in a district with Forestburg, Gold-Burg, and Harrold.

-A very tough District 13 the past couple years gets split up. Rising Star and Sidney join Moran and Strawn in the new District 11, while Blanket, Gustine, and Zephyr join Mullin and Priddy in District 12.

What were your biggest surprises?
