Educated Guesses: 4A Division II

Kickoff to the 2025 season is getting closer and closer, and the time has come to take a stab at how things will play out in each district featuring Big Country football teams.

I call them educated guesses, like your teachers used to, because I feel I have at least a little bit of knowledge about the upcoming season after speaking with area coaches for the 2025 edition of Big Country Blitz.

For the record, last season Big Country Blitz got three out of four playoff picks correct in 4A D2.

This district will be jam-packed with playoff potential again this season, and Snyder hopes it can continue to get better in year two under head coach Anthony Gonzales.

The Tigers will have to beat at least one of the four other squads, and Fort Stockton and Monahans, with just eight returning starters each, seem to be the most beatable.

Seminole checks in at #17 in the preseason rankings, and Greenwood is just ahead of them at #15. The Rangers won the district a year ago and look to be the slight favorites over the Indians to start the season.

BIG COUNTRY BLITZ COACHES POLL

1. Greenwood
2. Seminole
3. Snyder
4. Monahans
5. Fort Stockton

The Steers got the best of Brock in the regular season a year ago, only to see the Eagles get revenge in the playoff rematch.

Both teams lost a ton of star players, as Brock welcomes back seven starters and Graham has only four returning, but they look to be the frontrunners in the district.

Mineral Wells is coming off its best season in nearly a decade and looks to keep building the program in year three under Cody Worrell.

Eagle Mountain, playing with zero seniors on the roster, made the playoffs a year ago and should be a contender with all 22 starters back in 2025.

Burkburnett and Bridgeport both missed the playoffs a year ago. Both have double-digit returning starters coming back and hope to be in the playoff mix when November rolls around.
