Educated Guesses: 3A Division I
Kickoff to the 2025 season is getting closer and closer, and the time has come to take a stab at how things will play out in each district featuring Big Country football teams.
I call them educated guesses, like your teachers used to, because I feel I have at least a little bit of knowledge about the upcoming season after speaking with area coaches for the 2025 edition of Big Country Blitz.
For the record, last season Big Country Blitz got three out of four playoff picks correct in 3A DI.
We only have one 3A Division I district in our area, but what a great one it is.
Comanche, Jim Ned, and Sweetwater all got a piece of the district crown a year ago, but this season it will likely come down to the Indians and the Mustangs.
Both teams return a lot of talent, and the Mustangs hope injury luck goes their way much more than it did a year ago.
Their matchup in the season finale will be a big one, and I give Jim Ned the slight nod thanks to the home field advantage the Indians will have that night.
Clyde was a playoff team last season and is on the path to returning, likely as the three seed.
The final spot should come down to a very young Comanche squad against a Breckenridge team ready to turn things around after a really tough 2024.
TLCA San Angelo is coming off arguably the worst season in program history, where they scored just 26 points and gave up 666, and has a lot of work to do to compete in this very strong district.
