2025 1A Division II MVPs

Postseason awards have been rolling in for players across the state, and in the six-man ranks, the Big Country has been very well represented.

For the second straight season Jayton’s Bode Ham, a 2025 magazine cover athlete, is the Big Country Blitz 1A Division II Offensive MVP. He may not have had much of a chance to rack up big numbers in the Jaybirds’ many mercy-rule victories, but he showed his stuff at state with an effort for the ages: 430 yards and ten touchdowns rushing to go along with 118 yards and three more touchdowns passing.

Ham’s season totals are 1,827 yards and 37 touchdowns rushing, 381 yards and ten touchdowns passing, and 12 receptions for 336 yards and four touchdowns.

Several more area players were stars on offense as well this season and were considered for MVP: Abilene Christian’s Pierson Walters, Benjamin’s Keegan Hayes, Blanket’s Kannon Kensing, Bluff Dale’s Alex Saucedo, Jayton’s Sean Stanaland, Richland Springs’ Cohen Ethridge, and Strawn’s Michael Barcenas.

It is a repeat winner for Defensive MVP as well, as Colt Gentry from Jayton is the back-to-back winner of the award.

Gentry finished the year with 104 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries.

Others considered for the 1A Division II Defensive MVP were Blanket’s Mason Beck, Jayton’s Sean Stanaland, Richland Springs’ Billy Perry, and Zephyr’s Chayden Woodcock and CJ Byers.

Many more Big Country players delivered quality seasons, and they are listed as the Best of the Rest for 2025.
