OFF THE TOP
Wylie was the only one of the “Big Three” in Abilene to win this week. The Bulldogs sent the Homecoming crowd home happy with a 70-14 beat down of Cornado, while Abilene High fell for the first time this season to Permian 38-21 and Cooper fell to 1-2, coming up short on the road 40-35 at San Angelo Central.
Brownwood held off a late Glen Rose rally to earn its first win of the season. The Lions led 20-0 at the half and held on for a 34-28 win.
Stephenville rolled past Godley 45-6 to stay perfect, thanks in part to six touchdown tosses from quarterback Trot Jordan.
Snyder dropped to 0-3 with a tough Thursday night loss at Lubbock High, while Graham bounced back from a week two loss with an easy 35-7 home win over Whitesboro.

Jim Ned fell at home to Wall 24-0, as their former district rivals shut them down offensively and did enough on offense to pick up the win.
Hawley won a shootout at Merkel in an entertaining, if you like offense, 51-34 decision. Both teams check in at 2-1 on the year.
Anson continues to dominate this season, beating 3A Dublin 52-0 to move to 3-0. The Tigers have outscored their three opponents so far this year 157-6.
Munday is 3-0 for the second straight season after beating Chico 26-18 Friday night. The Moguls will have a tougher test this week at Hamlin, who is 2-1 after beating Crosbyton 19-14 in in week three.
Winters earned win number one of the season, taking care of Sterling City at home 24-14. That is coaching win number one for head coach Ryan Pannell.
Goldthwaite snapped a three-game losing streak in the “Battle of the River”, taking care of rival San Saba 49-34. The Eagles go to 2-1 heading into their bye week, while the ‘Dillos drop to 2-1.
Abilene Christian looks to be one of the best sixman offensive teams in the area. The Panthers put 90 on Knox City in a 90-44 road victory to improve to 2-1 on the season. Pierson Walters and company have things rolling through three weeks in 2025.
Make it 33 wins in a row for Gordon after the Longhorns handled rival Strawn 58-8 in Stephenville. Now the Longhorns will get ready for their first of two 11-man games on the schedule as they visti Thorndale on Friday night.
Coke County is a perfect 6-0 through three weeks. Bronte continues to impress, the Longhorns took down 1A DI Veribest 54-8, and Robert Lee does as well after blowing out Ira 60-14.

FIRST WINS
Congrats to three area coaches that picked up their first wins at their new schools Friday night.
Winters' Ryan Pannell got his first career coaching victory, while Jeryl Brixey and Jeremy Kirk notched win number one at Brownwood and Baird.

THE UNDEFEATED - WEEK 3
The list of unbeaten Big Country teams is cut down to 12 after three weeks of action.
I’d say Bronte is probably the most surprising undefeated team left to me, as the Longhorns only won four games all last year and are playing like they could be the favorites in the wide open District 6-1A Division II race.
17 in the extended Big Country area, including every team in every area district, are left, down from 36.
