Kickoff to the 2025 season is getting closer and closer, and the time has come to take a stab at how things will play out in each district featuring Big Country football teams.
I call them educated guesses, like your teachers used to, because I feel I have at least a little bit of knowledge about the upcoming season after speaking with area coaches for the 2025 edition of Big Country Blitz.
For the record, last season Big Country Blitz got four out of four playoff picks correct in 4A D1.
Brownwood enters 2025 with a new head coach in Jeryl Brixey, but the same high expectations.
The Lions have made the playoffs 16 years in a row, and that streak will likely be extended in 2025.
The Stephenville offense will have to replace some key pieces, but the defense, returning ten starters, is the reason why the Yellow Jackets are the preseason pick to win the district.

Stephenville is ranked #4 in the preseason polls, while Lampasas, the runner-up a year ago, is number #23. The Badgers only return six starters, however, and their matchup with the Lions in Brownwood in the district opener will be huge in the 4-4A Division I race.
Burnet and Marble Falls will once again battle for the fourth and final playoff spot, with the Bulldogs getting the slight nod in the preseason.
