The 2026 regular season is somehow almost over, and the playoffs will be getting started next week. Here is a look at the playoff scenarios for Big Country districts heading into Week 11.
DISTRICT 2-5A DIVISION I
Amarillo High has clinched at least a share of the district title and will get it outright and the number one seed with a (likely) win over Caprock this week.
Lubbock High, Monterely, Frenship Memorial, and Caprock are all eliminated from playoff contention.
If Abilene High beats Frenship and Tascosa beats Frenship Memorial: Abilene High two-seed, Tascosa three, Frenship four.
If Abilene High beats Frenship and Memorial beats Tascosa: Abilene High two-seed, Tascosa three, Frenship four.

Tascosa is locked in at -6. If Frenship wins by four or more, I believe they would be the two seed, Abilene High three, and Tascosa four.
If Frenship wins and Tascosa loses: Frenship two, Abilene High at three, and Tascosa at four.

Stephenville is the district champion and the #1 seed in the playoffs.

If Lampasas beats China Spring and Stephenville beats Marble Falls: 1) Stephenville, 2) Jarrell, 3) Lampasas, and a three-way tie for fourth at 1-4 between China Spring, Burnet, and Marble Falls.
If Lampasas beats China Spring and Marble Falls upsets Stephenville: 1) Stephenville, 2) Jarrell, 3) Lampasas, 4) Marble Falls
If China Spring beats Lampasas and Stephenville beats Marble Falls: 1) Stephenville, 2) Jarrell, 3) China Spring, 4) Lampasas

DISTRICT 4-2A DIVISION I
Some crazy things could happen in this district as well, including a potential three-team coin flip to decide a playoff spot.
If Sonora beats Forsan, the Broncos are the district champs and #1 seed.
If Forsan beats Sonora and Ballinger beats Ozona, Sonora would be #1 and Ballinger #2.
If Sonora wins, Ozona wins, and Christoval beats Colorado City: 1) Sonora, 2) Ozona, 3) Ballinger… Christoval and Forsan would be tied for #4 at 3-3, and Christoval would get the head-to-head tiebreaker and be in the playoffs.
If Sonora wins, Ozona wins, and Colorado City wins: 1) Sonora, 2) Ozona, 3) Ballinger, 4) Forsan
If Forsan wins and Ozona wins, Sonora is #1, and Forsan, Ballinger, and Ozona would be tied for #2 with 4-2 records. In that case, Forsan has +14 points already. Ozona (currently -17) would have to beat Ballinger by 15 or more to get to -2 (or more) and put Ballinger (currently +3) at -2 (or less). Clear as mud? That would put Forsan at #2, Ozona at #3, and Ballinger at #4. If Ballinger loses by 14 or fewer, they would be #3 and Ozona #4.
It gets even crazier if Forsan, Ozona, and Christoval all end up a 3-3 with maxed-out points. That’s when coin flips would come into play to determine which two of the three make the playoffs.
Potential bi-district playoff matchups:
#1 vs. New Deal (6-3)/Abernathy (1-8)/Sundown (0-9)
#2 vs. New Deal (6-3)/Abernathy (1-8)/Sundown (0-9)

If De Leon wins, Anson beats Hico, and Hawley beats TLCA Abilene: De Leon is #1, and Cisco, Anson, and Hawley are all tied for #2 with 3-2 district marks.
The district points cap is 15. Those three have already played each other, so Cisco (+12) would be #2, Hawley (+1) would be #3, and Anson (-12) would be #4.
Photo: Buddy Selvera
If De Leon wins, Anson wins, TLCA wins: 1) De Leon, 2) Cisco, 3) Anson, 4) Hawley
If De Leon wins, Hico wins, and Hawley wins: 1) De Leon, 2) Hawley, 3) Cisco, 4) Hico
If De Leon wins, Hico wins, and TLCA wins: 1) De Leon, 2) Cisco, and Anson, Hico, and Hawley would be tied at 2-3 for the last two spots.
Hawley has played both and is +12 and would be in as #3. Hico (currently -15) would have to beat Anson (currently +3) by 9 or more to get the #4 seed.
Photo: Skyler Blanton
If Cisco wins, Anson wins, Hawley wins: 1) Cisco, 2) De Leon, 3) Anson, 4) Hawley
If Cisco wins, Anson wins, TLCA wins: 1) Cisco, 2) De Leon, 3) Anson, 4) Hawley
